Thanks. I'll look into it.
What happens after you report?
- You tell me where it is.
- I find out who owns it and reach out about buying it.
- If the owner sells, I fix it up.
The owner may not want to sell. That's their call, and nothing changes unless they do.
Who should I call about a vacant house?
Call 911 if you see a crime or anything dangerous. For trash, tall grass, an open door or a house that looks unsafe, call your town's code enforcement office or the police non-emergency line.
The guide Abandoned house next door? What you can do covers who handles what, and the state sections cover each state's own rules.
- Crime or danger: 911
- Trash, tall grass, open doors, unsafe buildings: code enforcement
- Anything else: police non-emergency line
- A house you want fixed up: report it here
Please don't go onto the property or inside the house. If you see a crime or danger, call 911. For anything else, like trash, overgrown grass or an open door, your town's code enforcement or the police non-emergency line is the right call.
This site is run by Justin Liva, a real estate investor. It isn't a government website, and a report here doesn't file a complaint with your town.
Do you own a vacant house you want to sell?
Tell me about it. I buy houses five ways, from a cash offer to taking over the payments, and the owner page explains each one.
